Kay + Cassie | Elopement in Black Mountain, NC

I was so excited to hear from Cassie when she inquired for her Elopement.  She said, “...Tiny wedding party, hiking near Asheville, NC, all in wedding attire… should be fun!”  And of course I JUMPED!  Y’all know this is my DREAM!

I was so excited to hear from Cassie when she inquired on her elopement.  She said, “tiny wedding party, hiking near Asheville, NC, all in wedding attire… should be fun!”  And of course I JUMPED!  Y’all know this is my DREAM!

Cassie + Kay’s wedding day was so laid back.

They had the most wonderful brunch with their parents and siblings, and I could not have been more honored to be amongst their few trusted wedding party.

After brunch, everyone worked to finish getting ready and also clean up.  It was A LOT of work!  But their tribe had it all covered.  Did I mention it was super laid back?  :)

Sometimes with elopements and tiny weddings things don’t happen as planned (such as your proposed destination getting blocked by mudslides and downed trees!), however with your trusty photographer in hand anything is possible!  And, chauffeured by my incredible finance in his huge, glamorous truck, the four of us adventured out into Black Mountain to try to find new spots to explore and get married at.

In all honesty, Cassie & Kay were so down to earth and laid back, they could have gotten married on the side of the road and done it in absolute style!  :)

I loved them 110%.

Did I mention Cassie was a childhood friend of mine, who I’ve found I can loose touch with, to only rekindle and still look up to her so much!

Enjoy some behind the scenes shots....

Heath + Laura's Engagement On The River

What a sweet couple Heath and Laura are!  They are both so laid back and full of positivity.  They were so adventurous to go climbing up the side of the Ohio River.... and only weeks after Laura healed from a broken knee!

They were troopers to say the least!  (Yes, even when we had to search after I lost my iPhone.  It fell out of my pocket while rolling around in the grass... ever seen me do this?  Check it out HERE!  haha!  I'll do anything to get the perfect shot!)

Myra + Kids | Falls Of The Ohio

Myra and her little tribe of kiddos were so fun and adventurous!  We explored across the river from Louisville at The Falls Of The Ohio where there were tons of puddles to splash in, and lots of cool fossils to see.  Myras babies were so incredibly sweet.  I loved getting to know them and seeing their little personalities come through in these photos!

Guys, I got engaged!

Guys, I got engaged!

He is so smooth...  Kyle proposed to me over labor day weekend, and I took my own engagement photos without knowing it at the time!

Of course I'm always toting my camera, or a camera of some kind with me.  Months ago we had taken a photo, spur of the moment, self timer, at dusk, it was out of focus and blurry, but of course we still love it.  We've been trying to recreate it since.

We had gone into the tall pines on his dads property.  I think he knew my clear vision of the photo I wanted to take, and I kept wanting to retake it... the original two photos were out of focus and blurry.

We began our photo shoot and ended up getting some great shots.  I don't ever get in front of the camera so I practiced a few of the poses I often ask my clients to do.  (I need to know how y'all feel getting in front of the camera... it's weird, I know!)  We got our "I'm going to jump into your arms and try not to kick you in the balls" shot that I wanted.

Then he requested the one of us in the back of his truck, which he had already set up.  Boys and their toys!  This man loves his truck.  We got a few shots in the back of his truck, and he asks if my camera has a video setting....  Then my little photo shoot, unbeknownst to me, turns into my own engagement video!

I love this man.  He is incredible.  I am one of you now, lets get married!

We had been talking about putting together a 'memory book' of photos, think about the adventure book the old couple in the movie "Up" had... And the video was (his idea!) him giving me the book, starting with the first photos of us taken 8 years ago.  It ended with him proposing.  Of course I said yes, and now I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.  And I'm in happy/ugly tears writing this!

Cheers to all the sweet couples out there celebrating life with their best friend, their one true love, their soul mate.  We love you!  YOU are the reason I do this job....
